Due to the failure of the government, the quota reform movement turned into a popular uprising. Sheikh Hasina left the country by resigning in that coup. After that, some of the ministers-MPs of the party have fled and some are in hiding. Several of them have been arrested and in remand.

Law Minister Anisul Huq said we are in principle in favor of quota reform. We are willing to discuss this with students at any time. He said this to reporters at an emergency press briefing at the National Parliament tunnel on Thursday (July 18).
